Presentation 3/22/2019 - The Compromised Immune System
I work with a lot of clients that come to me with numerous health goals and its always apparent how vulnerable we are to what we come across. Somewhere in the midst of the many things that are encountered in our daily lives, we make up our minds on what’s good for us and stick with it regardless of the feedback we get from our body. A lot of times we do this because of what we read or who we talk to and we let our excitement for change overshadow what our body is really telling us.
In 2017, I had reached this plateau where nothing seemed to be going right. I had severely limited my choices while I was trying to listen to my body. In turn I feel like this actually set me back some. It was the limiting beliefs that were born from restriction that led to many negative emotions and as a result a body that was just unhappy. Today, I still follow a whole foods diet and a lot of the principles are still the same GAPS principles, but I have opened my mind to the things that helped me to get off that plateau. Variety & creativity are the two biggest things that have happened here.
I get at least six cups of non-starchy vegetables daily with a small amount of starchy carbs to go along with this. My protein choices are not limited to beef & beef and I have opened up my world to animal and plant based proteins more than I ever have! I truly have a lot of color on my plate now. Greens are a huge focal point for my health journey as like many others, my detox pathways were jammed up badly. My shopping cart is filled with exciting vegetables of all kinds now. It surprises me now to remember that it wasn’t so long ago that I had never even had squash. I didn’t even know what the hell a squash was! All of this has helped me to get much needed nutrients and balance, but In turn my mindset has evolved to a place where health can actually flourish now.
What Can You Do To Help Your Body?
All of this is not to discourage anyone to seek out new ways to heal, but rather encouragement to open up to the possibility that your body still needs something. Possibly you have been doing a specific diet for a long time and you just aren’t seeing results. Its at this point where you have to listen to your body and work on identifying what it is that you are missing. On our path to health, we either are doing things that are helpful or not helpful for good health. The main thing to remember is that what works for one, may not work for others and it may have very disastrous consequences eventually. Here are my top tips around all of this:
